A standard rooftop solar install with micro inverters is already pretty much plug and play. Wiring it up is the easy part.

Even a more complex system with large centralized inverters and battery backup can be about as plug and play as a desktop computer if you use an all-in-one inverter/charger/controller.

The challenge is scale. You can't take 10kW of solar and plug it into an outlet. It requires more hardware and wiring than that.

but you CAN just plug all of your stuff into the inverter.

From an economics perspective the solution is to legalize everything. Black markets cause incentives like this.

Yep. Meth costs pennies to make. Sell it cheap in liquor stores and nobody would do this any more.

Meth is already incredibly cheap. Meth addicts would definitely still engage in this behavior even if meth were free, because they still need money for rent, gas, food, whatever.

Go to the source, it's linked above that metadata. That will be a better resource for its copyright status.

They shouldn't but they've all shown they lack the fortitude to stand up to Trump. All the big tech companies are run by cowards willing to sacrifice ethics for money.

It's not a problem with HN, it's universal at this point. We had a ton of fake candidates like you described come through multiple channels.

> the latest occurring in 2000

26 years ago. That is not a current thing and isn't relevant.

The latest was 9/11 and that is still quite relevant to us today.

It's as recent as WWII was when Nixon got elected.

And Nixon followed through with countless post-WW2 policies, practices, and acted on concerns that stemmed specifically from that conflict. The Cold War and all related funding being an easy example.

I’d also be very wary of recency bias when looking at the extremist fringes of religious and political situations that have been ongoing for centuries. We might feel a couple decades is a long time, but in conflicts all parties can veto the other parties subjective interpretations.

> quite relevant

Quite relevant in terms of? Security (theater?) measures that have been allowed to continue?

Hey look, that person may have discovered that the introduction of Bluetooth on mobile phones somehow prevented future hijackings from being listed on Wikipedia with those keywords they grepped for. Let's not count out this water-tight approximation of commercial piloting procedure. Just think of how many incidents have been similarly prevented around that specific regional conflict by reducing legroom, shrinking overhead storage, and innumerable TSA back-of-the-hand bad touches.

There's interesting stuff in this writeup but it sure seems like most of it was written by an LLM.

There are freely available plans for all of those things. They are just more primitive than what you have in mind.

They are a dumb fad, just like all the other dumb fads before them.

You think either of them care about other human beings? They have continuously demonstrated they only care about themselves.
